Have you been traveling in your rig for weeks having fun. But are dreading the thought of cleaning inside of your RV to prepare it for storage.
You might have said to yourself “I’ll do it later”. Well that thought reminds me of a movie called Mouse Hunt. In the movie 2 guys; Nathan Lane and Lee Evans, begin shooting up their house trying to get rid of a clever mouse.
Don’t let that mouse destroy your precious rig.Beat that mouse at his game. Prep the inside of your RV for storage clean and thorough. Keep critters out.
How To Prepare Inside RV For Storage
10 Steps For Inside Storage Prep:
- Sweep& Vacuum: When your sweeping and vacuuming make sure to get into the hidden corners.
- Mop & disinfect: Disinfect counters also not just the floors
- Dust: When I do this I do it from top to bottom. Shades, screens, light fixtures, cabinets, walls.
- Inside AC : When I put in storage I change the AC filters.
- Refrigerator: Clean out everything from freezer side and fridge side. Making sure to wash with soap and water any spilled and dried on messes. Drain the water from fridge, dump any ice. Turn off unit. If you can leave the unit open that is good. But if you can’t make sure you put the following inside: baking soda, charcoal, coffee grounds or anything that will absorb moisture.
- Pantry: Empty anything inside that might spoil. Don’t leave any grainy items, or spices, sugar, honey. Clean wipe any spills.
- Bathroom: Clean the toilet inside and out, and around. Shower floor, glass. Remove any liquid meds. Clean up any spills. Vacuum fan. remove dirty & wet clothes.
- Bedroom: Strip all bedding and wash. If you want you can put back in rig. Only if you are not storing for a long period of time.
- Moisture Control: Hang several moisture bags around different areas in rig Damp Rid. Make sure to check these often and replace when full.
- Windows: Put vent cover on over head vents so you can leave them open to insure airflow, crack windows open if you can.
