Hello there to all RVer’s with pets that have physical challenges.
We all like to take our animals with us when we travel in our RV’s.
Is your rig safe and pet proof for their needs. Well if you are confused or over whelmed with this Not To Worry. I have “4 safe ways to RV with a physically challenged pet” to ease your concerns.
4 Safe Ways To RV With A Physically Challenged Pet……
Pet Or Baby Enclosures:
By using a pet or baby enclosure this will ensure that your challenged pet is where you can see him at all times.
This comes in handy when you are cooking inside your rig and they won’t get under foot.
Basics 8-Panel Plastic Pet Pen Cage Playpen
Whether you’re paper training a new puppy or simply keeping Fido safely contained while you’re away, the AmazonBasics 8-Panel Plastic Pet Pen is a secure, convenient option. This sturdy pet enclosure offers your furry friend the freedom to roam beyond the confines of his or her kennel, while still being in a controlled environment.
Don’t let them wander about without supervision.
Incontinence Pads:
Can your pet be trusted in your rig not to go to the bathroom inside. If he can’t then I suggest using a Belly Band or a diaper. This will eliminate that all together.

My dog Max is blind and doesn’t know where he is so he has to wear the belly band if he is walking around.
Safe Confinement Area:
A safe confinement area is very important for their safety when you will be gone away for awhile. I put my dog in the shower and close the door. He has his bed and puppy pads in the shower . So if he does go it is easy to clean. I drape a towel over the glass so he won’t scratch it.
You can put them in the kennel or crate but make sure you can clean this out with little effort.
Travel Days:
On travel days in the RV, I put his bed in the back seat. I don’t crate him on these days. He is 14 so he sleeps most of the time. But you may feel more comfortable in crating during these days if this makes you feel better .
Pet Information Records:
Your pets medical information should always be brought with you. If they are on special prescription foods like mine. You never know what will happen on the road. It is important if you plan on going out of the country.
Some campgrounds require this also. But I never have stayed at one that did.
Bug Protection:
Your pets heart worm and flea meds should be up to date. If you have to board them while you are on the road this could be beneficial. Make sure you have ample supply of these.
This should be included with the medical records file.
Summary
I hope that this article has helped anyone out there that has to deal with these issues with their fur babies. If you have anything else to add please do so.
See You On The Road
